COALBURN TRENCH COMPETITION - NAME A STATION!
COALBURN TRENCH COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED
Over 200 names have been submitted, and the quality of the suggestions has been extremely high; many of them have really dug in to the history of the route, the area and scenery. I am very pleased with the results and very grateful to every applicant.
Some of the suggestions actually match those of other existing stations, but this has helped to set these station names in stone.
I'd thought that picking a winner would be an easy choice, even with so many entries to sift through, and that one would really stand out above the rest but I was so very wrong! It's now such a difficult choice and many of the names also suit some of the other unnamed stations, so we have decided that there will be more than one winner.
There will now be three copies of Coalburn Trench up for grabs, with two further names being used for other stations. Screenshots of these other two stations are not currently available, but rest assured that the area will match the name. Given the superb response to the competition I thought it would be a good idea to let the community influence the route; choosing the names will govern the scenery type and the lucky winners of these two stations will have the chance to provide a short description of what they'd like in the area.
Each copy of the software will go to a different entrant, so those of you who provided up to three names have made my job that little bit more difficult!
The winners will be announced in the next few days and the full list of names (including repeats) is now on my blog at www.coalburntrench.blogspot.com
Thanks everyone!
Joe (Tyburn)
One of the stations in the forthcoming Coalburn Trench add-on for RailWorks needs a name, and that's where Just Trains' creative customers are being asked to help out!
Joe Pearce, the developer of this new non-prototypical (fictional)1960s route set in south-east England is giving you the chance to come up with a name for the station, and he'll choose the name he considers most suitable from all the suggestions received.
The winning station name will feature on a Southern Railway BR totem suspended from the station canopy, and will also be mounted on the signalbox, station fencing and some posts on the platform.
The winner will receive a free copy of the Coalburn Trench software when it's released, and will be credited in the manual - here's your chance to make your mark in the annals of train simulation!
HOW TO ENTER
Just take a look at the route map and these 'in development' screenshots of the station and its surroundings, and send your suggested names to comps@justflight.com.
You can suggest a maximum of THREE names for the station, and the competition closes on Tuesday 31st August 2010.
We'll pass on all entries to Joe and he will make the final decision.
Good luck!
