This Scenario Expansion for the Fort Kent Route stays with the theme of the original Fort Kent to Eagle Lake route release where you graduate from internship (i.e. the first 20 scenarios for Fort Kent) and are now a permanent resident with the railroad.

One day out of every week your assignment is back on the Fort Kent Sub, switching the local industries in the region. Each 'one day of the week' is represented by several scenarios giving you 16 new scenarios (using the default equipment provided in RailWorks).

This pack takes advantage of AI trains. A manual is included with 15 pages of introduction to your Fort Kent story as well as scheduling chart of the pick-ups and deliveries done in the region. As a special feature, some 'how-to' observations are included.

Note: The Fort Kent to Eagle Lake route is required for this Expansion Pack to work.

SCENARIOS

41- DITL - Week 1 - AM Pt. A
It is autumn in Fort Kent and the weather is cooling. Autumn comes early in Maine and this year is no different. The first day of the week the first run in the AM is the Gravel Plant in Eagle Lake. Because the Gravel Plant is switched twice a week today’s run to Gravel Lake is to take a few empty hoppers to the gravel plant. This is the first part of today’s A Day In The Life Of An Engineer.

42 - DITL - Week 1 - AM Pt. B
Looking over the plant manifest you will break down the incoming train and put together one to return to Fort Kent. You'll finish the scenario by returning to the hut (dest. x44) where the scenario will end.

43 - DITL - Week 1 - AM Pt. C
The Yard Foreman at Fort Kent gave you the run-down of what he wants done with the cars your bringing in. Check your manifest before you reach the Fort Kent yard.

44 – DITL - Week 1 - PM
In the first week of every month the Fort Kent Textile Mill is scheduled for its pickups/deliveries. While not a bigger mill in comparison to other textile mills its output is consistent and often times needs off-schedule pickups/deliveries when the pace quickens. While the routine is fairly simple in regards to switching the plant, often times the changing dynamics of the Fort Kent Yard require different tactics to move freight cars in and out of the yard. Today is one such day where the return trip provides the extra challenge with a turn on the wye needed.

45 – DITL - Week 2 - AM Pt. A
As the AM in the 2nd week of the Fort Kent Sub is for off-scheduled pickups you’ll find this day having you do a variety of chores and doing them with vintage locomotives. The day started early for you driving the F units in a passenger train run from Ashland to Fort Kent and you’re just arriving in Eagle Lake. Your last stop before Fort Kent station is Eagle Lake station before Fort Kent Station where all passengers will disembark and shop in historic Fort Kent for Railroad Days. You will instead park the passenger cars into the Fort Kent yard and get ready for more Fort Kent festivities (next scenario).

46 – DITL - Week 2 - AM Pt. B
A fun feature for the patrons of Railroad Days is to ride in a multiple caboose train through the wye at Fort Kent. Leaving the yard you will make a simple circuit about the wye and then return. The fair is only a few dollars for the whole family. This featured ride only lasts a couple of hours and is very popular with the railfans. The first thing you will need to do is uncouple from the passenger train when you enter the scenario.

47 – DITL - Week 2 - AM Pt. C
It was noticed earlier in the day that the front coupler of the F unit wasn’t up to operational standards so the railroad pulled an extra engine from a nearby train held up by the closed For Kent sub so you are able to do your Week 2 PM shift before running the passenger train back to Ashland. As the replacement engine arrived you coupled the F unit to the passenger train and are now just climbing the engine to take control.

48 – DITL - Week 2 - AM Pt. D
Overcast skies with maybe some rain have settled into the late afternoon Fort Kent area. With the festivities coming to an end the mainline was opened again and trains are just being released from their holding positions. Your last assignment for the day is run the F units and their passengers back to Ashland with one stop at Eagle Lake. Back the train up to the station.

49 – DITL - Week 3 - AM Pt. A
This morning the Eagle Lake Gravel plant is expecting its pickup/delivery and all the preparations have been made. However a shipment from east is late arriving at the Fort Kent rail yard so you're held up until it arrives. Wait patiently until its arrival and then proceed with your manifest after the train leaves.

50 – DITL - Week 3 - AM Pt. B
The delays of the morning only add to the frustration of what’s coming next. Eagle Lake Gravel picks up during the winter months and pickups/deliveries happen with more frequency. But with the plant track being less efficient, the winter months mean trouble for you. Today is one such example where the plant needs pickups, deliveries and transfers to take place. I hope you had a good breakfast; this one will take awhile to complete.

51 - DITL - Week 3 - AM Pt. C
Before setting out for the cab the dispatcher warned you of a southbound intermodal and the northbound train which just a few minutes earlier passed through Eagle Lake. Don’t delay setting coupling up your train though this means you’ll sit at the signal a few.

52 - DITL - Week 3 - PM
Often times deliveries to the yard are left on the Main so mainline traffic isn’t bottled up in Fort Kent. It takes longer to slow a train to yard speed, stop and then off-load freight cars and then get back onto the Main. This afternoon an eastbound with deliveries to Fort Kent will stop their train on the Main and drop-off freight cars which you will then retrieve and then classify before you are finished for the day.

53 - DITL - Week 4 - AM Pt. A
The railroad assigned you to Ashland the previous day and in doing so wanted you to bring a train from Ashland into Fort Kent today. The train needs to be classified upon arrival to the yard. You begin this scenario waiting at the Deuce Lumber passing tracks waiting for a southbound train before continuing.

54 - DITL - Week 4 - AM Pt. B
The potato run should be a familiar run to you and for the Fort Kent Sub it has been for many decades. The earlier version of this scenario didn’t include other traffic but this one does. Watch your signals.

55 - DITL - Week 4 - PM Pt. A
The drop-off will take place on the main. A train coming from the westbound branch is heading east and then north. Once the drop-off is completed bring the dropped-off cars to the yard. You will approach the drop-offs from the north side and use your front coupler. Then push the cars south to the straight-leg of the wye and back into the yard. Don’t dawdle on the mainline as northbound freights are pushing up this way.

56 - DITL - Week 4 - PM Pt. B
The Dispatcher notified the foreman while you were switching the yard that the train would be taken to Ashland (50 miles or so south of Fort Kent). This means a long day for you. To minimize the amount of overtime this will necessitate the foreman is giving you the go-ahead to move on out of the Fort Kent Yard as soon as possible. To do this the Dispatcher and foreman have okayed a seldom used technique so you can drive the train to Ashland and deliver the boxcar at the same time.
